Service with a Smile and a Wave
Here at SMRT, we pride ourselves with providing the best service to our commuters. Whether it is going the extra mile for meet the needs of our commuters, or to simply to greet you with a warm smile and a 'hello wave' as you go about your journey, our staff are the daily touchpoints with our commuters, and so we regularly invest in their professional development to be service champions in their respective areas.
As part of our continuous improvement in service, we partner with like-minded service-oriented organisations to train and develop our frontline staff. For instance, we partner with the Singapore Airlines Academy to facilitate continual service training for our staff, so that they can learn from the best. Through the programme, our staff learn the importance of having a Safety-First and Service-oriented mindset from experienced pilots, academy lecturers, and even senior cabin crew from the academy. They learnt the best practices in service and how to deliver Going-The-Extra-Mile Services to our commuters.
Bringing Festive Cheer to our Stations
During key festivals throughout the year, we bring celebratory festive cheer to our stations through musical and dance performances, giveaways, and other activities as a means to engage the many people who pass through our network.
Hari Raya
We organised a series of Malay dance performances in selected stations around Singapore. We also launched a Hari Raya themed train and decorated train stations with Hari Raya decorations in collaboration with the Land Transport Authority.
National Day
To drum up excitement for National Day, live singers performed National Day songs in MRT stations and bus interchanges. We also distributed National Day tattoo stickers and adorned walls of our MRT stations and bus interchanges with decorations. National Day wall murals – created in collaboration with West Spring Primary School, MINDS and APSN – were displayed at three bus interchanges
Deepavali
We organised live dance performances at our MRT and LRT stations. Commuters also received sand art kits to make their own Rangoli on the sheet provided.
Christmas
At our stations and SMRT Xchanges, we had several live performances like that by a visually-impaired singer-guitarist from SAVH and keyboard performances by a pianist with autism. In collaboration with MINDS and APSN, we designed festive wall art which was installed at selected MRT stations and all bus interchanges, Bukit Panjang LRT and Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) digital displays. We also partnered with Woodgrove Fuchun Community Centre for carolling performances and a Santa Meet-and-Greet at Woodlands and collaborated with LTA in its Christmas Themed Station Launch at CCL Dhoby Ghaut MRT station.
Lunar New Year
For the Lunar New Year, we organised activities such as red packet distribution and a God of Fortune walkabout at MRT stations and SMRT Xchanges around Singapore. SMRT Buses partnered with APSN to create festive artwork that were displayed at three bus interchanges.
