Media Release - SMRT announces leadership changes in key business units

  1. The Board of Directors of SMRT Corporation Ltd (the “Company”) wishes to announce the following changes in appointment.

 

  1. Mr. Lee Ling Wee, currently Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer, SMRT Corporation and President, STRIDES International will be taking over as President, Engineering from 1 May 2024, on a concurrent basis. Leveraging his years of service as Chief Executive of SMRT Trains from 2013 to 2020 and his previous experience as Head of the Republic of Singapore Air Force (“RSAF”) Engineering & Logistics department, he is well positioned to lead this important business unit. He also oversaw various key initiatives, including the recent contract secured to support Sentosa Express, for Operations, Maintenance & Engineering, and Services.

 

  1. Mr. Tan Peng Kuan will be appointed as President, STRIDES Holdings and Managing Director, SMRT Buses Ltd with effect from 1 May 2024.  Mr. Tan will be succeeding Mr. Tan Kian Heong, who will be stepping down from his role as President, STRIDES Holdings and be re-designated as Advisor to the President, STRIDES Holdings from 1 May 2024 to 31 July 2024.

 

  1. Reporting to Group Chief Executive Officer Mr. Ngien Hoon Ping, Mr. Tan Peng Kuan will be responsible for the delivery of a world-class transport service that is safe, reliable and commuter-centric by STRIDES Holdings. In addition, he is also in charge of driving business growth strategies for the non-PTO business arms under STRIDES Holdings.

 

  1. The Board and the Management of the Company thank Mr. Tan Kian Heong for his valuable contributions to the Company and look forward to Mr. Lee Ling Wee and Mr. Tan Peng Kuan steering the businesses to greater heights.
