Ms Margaret Teo heads the Corporate Communications Division and is the Chief Spokesperson for SMRT Corporation Ltd (SMRT). In her concurrent appointment as Group Chief Sustainability Officer, she also leads the company’s Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) efforts. 
 
As custodian of SMRT’s reputation, Ms Teo leads the company’s communication strategies, executing these across multiple channels and stakeholder groups. Aligned with SMRT’s strategic objectives, she oversees strategic messaging, media relations, stakeholder communications, media management, digital engagement, and corporate social responsibility. She also serves as Chairperson of the Marketing Committee at the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) from 2023 to 2025. 
 
As Group Chief Sustainability Officer, Ms Teo drives the organisation’s sustainability strategy and key initiatives, embedding sustainable practices across operations, culture, and business strategy. In alignment with ESG principles, she champions SMRT’s commitment to long-term value creation and a more sustainable future.
 
Ms Teo joined SMRT in August 2014 as Head of Corporate and Marketing Communications. She brings over 20 years of experience in public relations and marketing communications. Prior to SMRT, she was Senior Vice President at Singbridge International Pte Ltd, a developer of integrated townships overseas. She also held senior roles at the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), where she led public communications, stakeholder relations, and service quality. At STB, she established the Integrated Resorts Division and played a key role in the planning and launch of the two resorts in 2010. She also led crisis communications during the 2003 SARS outbreak and spearheaded global recovery initiatives.
 
Ms Teo holds a distinction in Master of Business (International Marketing) from the Curtin University of Technology and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from the National University of Singapore. She also attended the Advanced Management Programme in Harvard Business School. In 2009, she was awarded the Public Administration (Silver) medal for her contribution in the public sector.
