Background
SMRT Trains is initiating a Request for Information (RFI) for iVOICE 2.0, an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled tool designed to automatically transcribe and annotate radio communications and public address (PA) announcements across its transit network. The current iVOICE system supports transcription and audit of voice procedures to enhance operational compliance. The enhanced version, iVOICE 2.0, aims to further improve safety, service excellence, and operational efficiency.
This RFI seeks to identify experienced vendors with capabilities in Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and other relevant technologies, including language models, to propose innovative solutions that align with SMRT’s commitment to safety, reliability, and customer service.
Scope of Works
The proposed iVOICE 2.0 solution will be implemented in two phases:
Phase A – Train Movement Voice Recordings
- Transcription of audio communications from various SMRT-operated lines.
- Speaker diarisation to segment and identify speakers.
- Automated audit of transcribed communications to assess procedural compliance.
- Scalable and cybersecure infrastructure to support deployment across multiple transit lines.
- Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and file exchange protocol with existing systems
- A user-friendly platform to update audit criteria and training data.
- AI-generated simulated responses to support staff training.
Phase B – Public Address (PA) Voice Recordings
- Transcription and audit of PA announcements.
- Development of interfaces for system integration.
- Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and file exchange protocol with existing systems
- A user-friendly platform to update audit criteria and training data.
- AI-generated simulated responses to support staff training.
Additional Considerations
- Vendors are encouraged to propose evaluation methods to measure solution effectiveness.
- High-level budgetary estimates are requested to support planning for a future Request for Proposal (RFP).
- Solutions should be cybersecure, adaptable to future operational needs and scalable across SMRT’s transit network.
