Mr Alvin Kek is the Group Chief Commuter Engagement & Service Excellence Officer. He is responsible for driving SMRT’s commuter engagement and service excellence strategies to engage and build affinity with commuters and communities. Mr Kek is concurrently Senior Vice President, Rail Operations, where he is responsible for delivering safe, reliable and customer-centric experiences to commuters across SMRT’s rail network.
As Chairman of the SMRT Commuter Engagement and Service Excellence Committee, he implemented numerous initiatives to enhance vibrancy, accessibility, and inclusivity, as well as to build Communities in MRT Stations and Bus Interchanges. These initiatives include the introduction of the ‘Go-To SMRT’ suite of commuter care services, provision of WeCare rooms, operationalisation of Dementia Go-To points through collaboration with Agency for the Integrated Care (AIC), introduction of festivities, music and buskers at stations and bus interchanges, Pianos@Stations, Health@Stations and Sports@Stations, as well as working with the local art community to display heritage-themed, comic-style community wall murals through Project Comic Connect.
Mr Kek holds a Master of Science (International Relations) from Nanyang Technological University, and a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from National University of Singapore.
