Mr Ang Hang Guan is the Group Chief Engineering Officer. He is responsible for providing engineering advice and assurance, facilitating better engineering decisions, asset management practices, and technical risk management processes to uphold the highest standards of safety, reliability, and long-term asset integrity across the whole of SMRT Corporation and its subsidiaries.
Mr Ang joined SMRT as Principal Fellow, Rolling Stock and concurrently covered the role of Principal Fellow, Systems and Technology Integration. He was subsequently appointed as Senior Vice President, Plans & Development, followed by Senior Vice President, Rail Maintenance, before assuming his current role as Group Chief Engineering Officer.
Prior to joining SMRT, Mr Ang served in the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) for 22 years. A mechanical engineer by training, he held various appointments across the airbases and headquarters. He previously served as Deputy Head for Airworthiness Engineering, where he was responsible to oversee the airworthiness of all RSAF aircraft. In this role, he led holistic engineering assessments covering aircraft-level systems integration and modifications, ensuring stringent airworthiness and safety standards across the fleets. He had also led the maintenance groups in the airbases to drive high levels of operational readiness, availability, and reliability across the aircraft fleets. His leadership was instrumental in advancing new maintenance capabilities and managing key outsourcing programs, bridging engineering insight with frontline execution.
Mr Ang holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore and a Master's degree in Military Operational Art and Science from the United States Air Force Command and Staff College.
