From Monday, 4 August 2025, Supplementary Bus Service 179B will be introduced to replace Service 179A on weekdays afternoon and evening peak during the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) academic term.

Service 179B will operate from Hall 1 (BS 27281) along Lien Ying Chow Drive, and end at Pioneer Station Exit B (BS 22529) along Jurong West Street 63. Service 179A will continue to operate during the morning peak. Commuters travelling to Boon Lay Bus Interchange / MRT station can continue using Service 179.
