14 November 2025
SMRT Corporation (SMRT) launched Tap For Hope 2025 across its public transport network in support of the President’s Challenge. This annual fund-raising campaign reaffirms SMRT’s continued commitment to supporting meaningful causes and fostering a more inclusive future for all.
Now in its fifth edition, Tap For Hope will run from 14 November 2025 to 16 January 2026. For the first time since its inception, Tap For Hope will be rolled out to two MRT stations on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL), marking a key milestone in its outreach. With this expansion, Tap For Hope donation stands will be available across all MRT lines in SMRT’s network, reaching more commuters than ever before.
In line with this year’s President’s Challenge focus on creating sustained impact, SPD—a local charity dedicated to empowering persons with disabilities—has been named the principal beneficiary of the funds raised. The contributions will support SPD’s ongoing efforts to empower its beneficiaries. Tap For Hope is part of a broader initiative that embodies SMRT’s vision of ‘Moving People, Enhancing Lifestyles,’ striving to ensure that no one is left behind on the journey toward a compassionate society where everyone belongs.
Guest-of-Honour, Ms Sun Xueling, Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of National Development and the Ministry of Transport, officiated the launch today with the first donation at the Tap For Hope stand at Stellar@TE2, situated within Woodlands MRT station.
Mr Ngien Hoon Ping, Group Chief Executive Officer, SMRT Corporation, said, “To commemorate SG60 and SMRT’s 38th anniversary, and as part of our “Do Right, Do Good and Do Well” initiatives, we are proud to continue championing this meaningful effort called 'Tap for Hope' to support persons with disabilities. Every tap is more than a donation; it is a step toward a more inclusive society. As a major transport operator, we move millions daily. With every tap, we also move hearts and communities. We welcome everyone to join SMRT in making a meaningful impact.”
From 14 November 2025, members of the public who wish to donate may do so at the donation stands conveniently located at eight MRT stations and two bus interchanges within SMRT’s network.
With just a tap, members of the public can make donations of $2, $8, $20, $50, $88, or $100, through their EZ-Link cards, credit cards, digital wallets, charms, or wearables. Alternatively, they can scan the PayNow QR code to donate directly.
Launched in 2000, the President’s Challenge is a national movement led by the President to foster a more caring and cohesive society. This year’s edition of the President’s Challenge focuses on achieving more sustained social impact. It will be supported by a longer-term funding model, enabling supported programmes to deliver deeper and lasting impact.
By launching the Tap For Hope campaign at Stellar@TE2 located in Woodlands station on the Thomson-East Coast Line, SMRT reinforces its role as a catalyst in creating impactful moments of connection that inspire community spirit within its transit network. Stellar@TE2 brings together over 20 tenants across F&B, retail, health, and lifestyle services, integrating retail into transit spaces. With a strong emphasis on accessibility, collaboration, and inclusivity, Stellar@TE2 offers a vibrant setting that enhances the commuter experience while supporting causes that matter.
