SMRT partners President’s Challenge to launch Tap For Hope
- SMRT Trains launches today Tap For Hope (TFH), an initiative that sees the public transport operator partnering the President’s Challenge (PC), in support of the theme of Building a Digitally Inclusive Society, and to raise funds for 93 benefitting agencies supported by PC. Under the theme, the PC’s goal is to empower vulnerable groups so that they have the digital tools, skills and connectivity to remain socially and economically active in a digital-first world.
- TFH will see donations done via the scanning of a PayNow QR code, which is found at three MRT stations: Paya Lebar and Harbourfront MRT stations along the Circle Line, and at Jurong East MRT station on the North-South and East-West lines. Donors simply scan the provided QR code to make a direct donation to PC. The initiative will run for six weeks from 15 January to 28 February 2022.
- While the MRT stations will prominently feature the PayNow QR code to encourage commuters to make donations, SMRT will also be having online publicity plans to encourage giving, such as on SMRT’s website and its social media platforms, as well as reaching out to community partners.
- Mr Lam Sheau Kai, President, SMRT Trains said: “SMRT is delighted to be given the opportunity to support the President’s Challenge. Tap For Hope is born out of our WeCare service ethos, which seeks to care for everyone we meet and serve, within and out of our train network.”
- The President’s Challenge is a national movement led by the President to rally Singaporeans to build a caring and cohesive society together. An annual community outreach, President’s Challenge aims to bring together people from all walks of life, under the President’s patronage, to help those who are less fortunate. 100% of the donations raised under President’s Challenge go to benefitting agencies supported by President’s Challenge.
