Feedback Regarding Yew Tee Residents Affected by MRT Noise

Singapore, 18 Decemeber 2021

We thank Mr Cheng Baoliang for his feedback given in the Zaobao forum letter (“Yew Tee residents affected by MRT noise”, 11 Dec 2021).

As part of our maintenance regime, we carry out regular track maintenance works during engineering hours to smoothen the tracks for more comfortable rides. In addition, we conduct noise measurements to check that our train operations are kept within the authorities’ allowable limits. Noise barriers have also been installed by the Land Transport Authority along the tracks from Yew Tee station to Pang Sua Park Connector to reduce railway noise.

In response to Mr Cheng’s feedback, our maintenance staff went to the tracks in the Pang Sua Canal area to check the tracks and found that they were in normal conditions. They also performed additional track maintenance works, such as the grinding of the rails, to reduce the train-track noise further.

We will continue to do our best to provide safe, reliable and smooth train journeys for commuters.
