Alternative modes of transport

Commuters are advised to avoid travelling to the affected stations or take the following modes of transport.

a. Alternative MRT routes

Example

On 4 and 5 September when there is no train service between Clementi and Jurong East Stations, commuters can travel to Jurong East on the North-South Line.

On 18 and 19 September when there is no train service between Bukit Batok and Jurong East stations, commuters can travel on the East West line to get to Jurong East.
b. Public bus – Refer to TransitLink Journey Planner at www.transitlink.com.sg/ptjp_home.html for information on bus services or to plan your journey.
c.

Bus shuttle service -- Available only during the above mentioned weekends for travel between the affected stations.  The shuttle bus service runs at three-minute intervals between 7am and 10pm, and up to 10-minute intervals outside these hours. The approximate travel time is 45 minutes. The first and last bus timings will coincide with the first and last train timings.

The buses used for the shuttle service are not wheelchair accessible. However, SMRT has made arrangements for taxi services for wheelchair-bound commuters who are starting at or continuing their journey from Clementi, Bukit Batok or Jurong East stations.  Commuters who require this service should approach our station staff for assistance.

Fares

On 4 and 5 September, commuters using adult or concession stored value cards must tap out when they alight at either Jurong East or Clementi Stations. The fare deducted will be based on the entry station. Commuters who continue their journey on the shuttle bus service must tap in at Clementi or Jurong East Station. At their destination station, the fare difference will be deducted. The total fare deducted will not be more than what commuters would pay on an uninterrupted journey.

The same applies for the weekend of the 18 and 19 September. Commuters using adult or concession stored value cards must tap out when they alight at either Jurong East or Bukit Batok Stations. Those continuing their journey on the shuttle bus service must tap in at Jurong East or Bukit Batok Station.

Concession pass holders who travel beyond the trip limit due to additional tapping in/out may file a claim with TransitLink within five working days.

Standard Ticket holders will need to enter/exit using designated gates. Station staff will be on hand to guide and assist commuters. LTA and SMRT have made arrangements to extend the transfer time allowed when alighting or boarding at the affected train stations – Clementi/Jurong East and Jurong East/Bukit Batok – on the respective weekends.

Should commuters receive notification they have exceeded transfer or journey time when tapping in, they may file a claim with TransitLink within five working days. Claims may be filed through the following channel:

1. www.transitlink.com.sg
2. Hotline at 1800-225 5663
3. TransitLink Ticket Offices
