Accessibility

SMRT is mindful of the needs of passengers-in-wheelchair and has taken steps to ensure that their travel experience is hassle-free and comfortable.

For their convenience, there are eight trunk and feeder Wheelchair Accessible Bus (WAB) services originating from Yishun, Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Batok bus interchanges. Some of these services call at medical facilities such as the Singapore General Hospital, KK Women and Children’s Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Jurong Medical Centre, and Bukit Merah, Choa Chu Kang and Clementi polyclinics. Each WAB can accommodate up to two passengers-in-wheelchair.

Features we have put in place:

Low-floor boards and ramps on board our buses
Signs, ramps, guard rails and special boarding berths for wheelchair users
“Request for Staff Assistance” buttons at boarding berths for wheelchair users

Our Service Leaders are also on hand to render assistance.
