Volunteerism

A key objective of SMRT’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme is to inculcate a spirit of volunteerism in our people. Institutions we have supported over the years cater to senior citizens, the sick and injured, and children. They include:

Geylang East Home For The Aged (adopted since 2004)
Asian Women’s Welfare Association (adopted since 2011)

SMRT staff organises outings, community work projects and fund-raising events for seniors from these Homes. These included activities to raise funds and outings to bring more quality to the lives of these elderly. SMRT staff even carry out regular home improvement projects to refurbish the homes of the old and lonely.

Singapore Red Cross Society Blood Donor Recruitment Programme (adopted since 2004)

For several years now, SMRT has used its train and station network to support the Blood Donor Recruitment Programme. Volunteers from SMRT helped out with the celebrations and publicity on World Red Cross Day and Blood Donors Day.
Every year, an average of four to five blood donation drives were organised at SMRT stations, especially during festive periods where blood count are low.

Ang Mo Kio Family Services (adopted since 2006)
Trans Family Service Centre (adopted since 2010)

We organise activities for the children and their parents. These include family and sports day, food donation drives for needy families and year-end parties for the elderly.
