Silver Tribute Fund
Five years in our journey with the elderly

The Silver Tribute Fund is SMRT’s biggest corporate social responsibility initiative. Launched in December 2006 as part of the company’s 20th anniversary, the Silver Tribute Fund was set up to help the community’s elderly poor – a disadvantaged group that is often overlooked in society.

Our elderly beneficiaries are either forgotten or abandoned by the loved ones they have cared for, or have no family and are living alone. Many wake up every day to find their lives empty and lonely, and struggle to find enough food to eat or execute simple daily tasks. Getting by on scraps, struggling to have a shelter to keep dry, and worrying about where the next dollar will come from are not fitting ways for anyone to live out their final years.

The Silver Tribute Fund makes a big difference in the lives of the beneficiaries. It supports critical care services and assistance that improve the lives of the elderly, and help them live out their twilight years with basic security and dignity. To date, the Silver Tribute Fund has raised over $6 million to benefit more than 10,000 elderly beneficiaries.

Our silver generation has given us and our nation their best years. Through the Silver Tribute Fund, we work towards forging a more socially-conscious and caring society for them, boosting their self-esteem and inter-generational family ties. The Silver Tribute Fund is our way of saying Thank you for everything.

Our society must make it right and possible for old people Five years in our journey with the elderly not to fear the young or be deserted by them, for the test of a civilisation is the way that it cares for its helpless members.
