Inclusive Playground - Wheel you play with me?
8/27/2015 10:49:15 AM
Made possible by the Care & Share Movement, with SMRT as one of the key donors, the Bishan-Ang Mo Kio inclusive playground caters to children with disabilities, and has a wheelchair-friendly merry-go-round, a wheelchair swing as well as a slide that provides additional tactile stimulation. Close to thirty SMRT volunteers were present at the launch event on 22 August 2015 to lend a helping hand to beneficiaries giving the new playground a go. Twenty-seven SMRT taxis also provided return transport to ferry the beneficiaries between their homes and Bishan Park. “We can actually see normal playground equipment and also special playground equipment, allowing normal kids and kids with special needs to actually mingle around and play around. So it’s actually quite an interesting programme,” said Ms Joelle Chew, SMRT Volunteer. “This is part of SMRT’s vision of moving people, enhancing lives, and we’re delighted to be able to support this inclusive playground in Singapore,” shared SMRT CEO Desmond Kuek.
