[Update] The following changes will be made to bus services that operate along the Downtown Line (DTL) 2 corridor from Sunday, 30 August instead of 16 August.
1. Service 700/700A will cease operations. Commuters can take Service 973 and connect to DTL when travelling from Bukit Panjang to the city area.
2. Service 171 will be amended to operate from Yishun bus interchange and loop around Bukit Panjang MRT station. Commuters along Upper Bukit Timah Road and Bukit Timah / Dunearn Road can take the DTL or alternative bus services along these corridors.
3. Together with the above changes, some trips of Service 972 will be amended to serve Bukit Timah / Dunearn Road, Newton MRT and Scotts Road, and identified as Service 972M. The remaining trips of Service 972 will continue to ply the current route along Stevens Road. With this arrangement, Service 972M will maintain the local connectivity between Bukit Timah / Dunearn Road and Newton MRT which is currently provided by Services 171 and 700/700A, while Service 972 will continue to provide a more direct route between Bukit Panjang and the city area via Stevens Road.
4. To maintain a direct link between Petir Road and the city during weekday peak periods, Service 971E will be amended to ply Petir Road and call at additional bus stops along Stevens Road and Bras Basah Road. With these changes, Service 971E will be renumbered as Service 971, converted to a trunk service and charge basic fares. The operating hours during weekday peak periods will also be extended. These changes to Service 971 will take effect from Monday, 31 August 2020.

Changes to bus services along Downtown Line 2 corridor
From 16 August 2020, the following changes will be made to bus services that operate along the Downtown Line (DTL) 2 corridor.
Service 700/700A will cease operations. Commuters can take Service 973 and connect to DTL when travelling from Bukit Panjang to the city area.
Service 171 will be amended to operate from Yishun bus interchange and loop around Bukit Panjang MRT station. Commuters along Upper Bukit Timah Road and Bukit Timah / Dunearn Road can take the Downtown Line or alterative bus services along these corridors.
In tandem with the above changes, Service 972 will be amended to serve Bukit Timah / Dunearn Road, Newton MRT and Scotts Road. Commuters travelling from Bukit Panjang to Stevens Road can take Service 972 to Whitley Road (after Tanglin CC) and connect to Services 105, 132 or 190.
