Early Closure of Selected North-South Line Stations from January to March 2020

 

 

  1.       To facilitate maintenance works and the renewal of the power supply system along the North-South Line (NSL), SMRT will extend engineering hours with early closures of selected MRT stations from January to March 2020.

 

2.         From 3 January to 11 January, four stations between Novena and Bishan will close earlier at about 11.00pm on Fridays and Saturdays. On selected Fridays and Saturdays in February and all Fridays and Saturdays in March, three stations between Yishun and Yio Chu Kang will close earlier at about 11.00pm.

 

3.         The additional engineering hours will be primarily used to carry out the installation of 22kV power cables as part of the power supply system renewal works. Where feasible, the installation of railway noise barriers will also be carried out in February and March 2020.

Alternative Travel Arrangements
 

4.         During the early closures in January 2020, Shuttle Bus Service 9 will be available to maintain connectivity for commuters travelling between Ang Mo Kio and Newton Station. For the early closures in February and March 2020, Shuttle Bus Service 10 will connect commuters between Canberra and Ang Mo Kio Station. The buses will serve designated bus stops near the affected MRT stations.

5.         The timing of the last trains departing from each station during the planned early closures will vary. Commuters are advised to check the departure times at the affected MRT stations or on SMRT Trains’ website and social media platforms to better plan their journeys ahead of time. More time will be needed to travel between the affected MRT stations using the shuttle bus services.

 

6.         SMRT will keep commuters updated on changes in train operation hours and alternative transport arrangements on SMRT Trains’ website, https://www.smrttrains.com.sg, as well as through SMRT’s Facebook page, Twitter feed and the SMRTConnect app.
